Last week, I joined over 100 industry friends and colleagues in Beaver Creek, Colorado, for SITE’s 2022 Incentive Summit Americas (ISA). This was a long time coming, as the program was supposed to take place in Beaver Creek back in April of 2020.
I was also joined by Dawn Harker, Imprint's Managing Partner in our Colorado Resorts Division. With this year's Summit right in Dawn's "backyard," it was excellent to hear her insights throughout the event, too.
Excited to finally see it all come to fruition as a 2022 host partner, we were welcomed with gorgeous weather and an amazing overall experience filled with education, networking and events.
Our host hotel, the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa is the perfect setting for groups of all sizes. Nestled in a village at the base of a mountain with ski-in/ski-out access, you are surrounded by scenic views, the energetic village atmosphere and all of the amenities one would expect from a luxury experience.
Activities allowed guests to experience nearby destinations such as Vail (thanks to Vail Resorts, which owns the ski mountain and the venue where we had our final Summit dinner), Glenwood Hot Springs, and, for the more active among us, skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling. The assortment of activities showed planners the variety of offerings in this destination for groups.
Educational highlights included a panel on “Incentive Design in a Net Zero World” that showcased fresh approaches to sustainability. It was especially timely and relevant, as we recently had a client get the green light for planning live events again but with a requirement to include a sustainable initiative as part of each meeting.
The panel shared several great sustainability ideas, from sourcing, to meals, and more, that can be easily implemented without a heavy or expensive lift on programs and their budgets.
I also enjoyed the candid conversations that took place amongst the clients and suppliers in the Learning Lounges. I participated in the “Sellers Market” and “Managing Customer Expectation During Difficult Times” Lounges. During both, planners and suppliers shared best practices in navigating the RFP process, onsite service expectations, and the realities we’re all currently facing. These sessions provided immediate tools we’ll be sharing and implementing with clients — so valuable.
Although I may be biased, another highlight was definitely the Moulin Rouge-themed Auction and Gala Night. The Imprint team created three custom entertainment vignettes led by our very own version of Harold Zidler. Flanked by four talented dancers, our Satine lead singer wowed guests with her vocal range.
The flow of the evening interspersed live auction items with performances and a lovely plant-based menu prepared by Park Hyatt. We received great feedback from attendees that this event allowed time for dinner conversations, bidding and entertainment, all perfectly paced.
It’s always a thrill to attend events like ISA. The 2022 Summit was a huge success, and showcased to this year’s attendees a stellar destination with plenty to offer right here in Colorado.
