As our entire community knows, West Maui faced devastating destruction from deadly wildfires earlier this summer.
As Lahaina Town in West Maui begins to rebuild, our Hawaiian DMC partner, DeSilva Meeting Consultants, has kept the DMC Network up-to-date on the latest information about their destination.
Officials are encouraging visitors, including meeting & event business, to keep travel plans in place to other parts of Maui such as Wailea/Kihei and to other Hawaiian Islands. Much of West Maui (including Ka’anapali and Kapalua, but not Lahaina Town) is preparing to re-open in early October following a declaration from Hawaii's governor.
Your business provides critical support for the Island's economies, and much of the destination is ready to welcome visitors now and in the near future.
The Hawai'I Tourism Authority continues to provide industry-wide updates. Please check their website for the latest information and supports if you have a program set to take place in Hawai'i.
DeSilva Meeting Consultants also recommends that anyone looking to make a monetary contribution consider supporting the Maui Strong Fund, Maui Food Bank, or Maui Humane Society.
Of course, you can also get the latest news in-person at IMEX America next month, with the DeSilva team joining other destination colleagues on the Hawai'i booth (#D3221).
In the spirit of our own DMC Network "ohana,"
Aloha — always.
