The memory...  the first time I walked into the East Wing of the White House. I served as Senior Advisor and Director of Scheduling & Advance for First Lady Michelle Obama for the first half of the administration. I can still remember the fear and uneasy feeling I had walking into a place with such an incredible history not knowing really anything about how it worked, but also the incredible responsibility and pride I felt in the work I was going to be able to do there.

The hobby... laying on the beach or next to a pool and reading. I’m the daughter of two English teachers so reading was always an important part of summer. With two kids now, having dedicated time to lounge and read is such a luxury for me.

The time of day... the morning drive to work. I'm one of those crazy people who love their commute to work, it's the only time in the day I'm alone to collect my thoughts or listen to a podcast. It's also the chunk of time I try to preserve on my schedule just for me.

The color... I’ve always loved green because it reminds me of Colorado, my home state. Looking at my wardrobe, though, gray and black are staples.

The friend... my two closest friends are also my longest. One, Sarah, was born six months before me and we’ve been pseudo sisters ever since we were babies. The other, Lisa, became my best friend in high school sophomore year and we’ve been inseparable ever since. Our daughters are now six months apart and best friends as well.

The pet... our Shitzu/Maltese mix, Cheese. He’s the best cuddler in the world and big brother to our two little girls.

The smell... of Thanksgiving dinner being cooked. I loved waking up on Thanksgiving to the smell of onions and celery being sautéed in butter for my mom’s stuffing.

The book... anything by J.D. Salinger. My namesake, FRANNY & ZOOEY, is a favorite I try to read once a year.

The piece of advice... take one bite at a time. We work in an industry where we’re expected to solve complicated problems or achieve insurmountable tasks. I believe there’s always a solution to any problem, you just have to break it down into achievable (bitable) parts.

The exercise... Pilates, Barre, hiking, and swimming are the exercises I enjoy. I also try to walk regularly.

The alternate job... I feel like I become the office therapist a lot in my various work environments, so perhaps I should have been a psychologist.  I also love searching for houses, I would have probably loved being a realtor.

The taste... any type of potato…fried, grilled, baked, scalloped, you name it! When I was a little kid I wrote a kids book about a potato superhero!

The accessory...  I have a pair of gray pearl earrings passed on to me from my late grandmother who I was very close to. I wear them all the time, they are very important to me.

The TV show... I loved THE WEST WING and have gone back several times to rewatch the series.  I finally just watched MAKING A MURDERER, which was so well done and fascinating to watch.

The quote... it’s not a famous quote, but my dad always says “there aren’t boring places, only boring people,” which I love. Such a perfect mantra for our industry as well – there are amazing things to discover everywhere, you must approach the destination with an adventurous spirit and open mind!
