The Passions Behind the People
Each month we will be sharing the passions behind the people in the DMC Network...
This month the spotlight is on Rob Walsh CMP, DMCP, owner of Summit Events in Park City and Salt Lake City UT.
The memory...
The hobby... Vintage Toyota Landcruisers. Over the years, I’ve been finding, restoring and reselling them. I just love the pure utility and design of those old vehicles.
The time of day... Early morning is the best time of day; it’s when I’m the most creative and energized. That first cup of coffee is the best.
The color... I have always been drawn to the color green. Maybe it’s the Irish in me, take a look in my closet and you’ll see a lot of it.
The friend... I am fortunate to have a bunch of lifelong friends. On a recent visit back to the Midwest to see family, I caught up with 5 or 6 buddies I went to grade school with. To go back and have friends all the way back to the first grade is something I am really grateful for.
The pet... Sam, our 11-year-old golden retriever is the best!
The smell... I've always loved the smell of gardenias. Growing up my mom always had fresh ones around the house.
The book... Undaunted Courage by Steven Ambrose. It is about Lewis and Clark, Thomas Jefferson and the opening of the American West. It’s an amazing story of leadership, adventure, and discovery.
The piece of advice... "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it”. My mom taught me that when I was young and it’s really stuck with me.
The joke... My three-year-old just told me this one. What did the sushi say to the bee? Wasabi.
The exercise... In the winter, I love to ski. In the summer you'll find me on my mountain bike. Every day, I'm trying to keep up with my kiddos.
The alternate job... Landscape architect. In college, I studied landscape design and still have an appreciation for it.
The song... Most of the music that came out of the 60’s and 70’s, especially the Grateful Dead. I’m kind of a closet Dead Head.
The taste... Pizza, pizza, and pizza.
The accessory... My Garmin GPS watch is my latest purchase and it does it all.
The TV show... Lately, I've been watching reruns of the Office and they get funnier with time.
The quote... “Chop your own wood and it will warm you twice.”
