The Passions Behind the People
Each month we will be sharing the passions behind the people in the DMC Network. This month the spotlight is on Larry Huttinger, Diector and Co-owner of Destination Philly, our DMC Partner in Philadelphia and Atlantic City.
Time of day... Early evening - either sitting in my backyard and watching the sun set or taking a walk around my neighborhood.
The vice.. Volunteering at my church and being active in a Men’s ministry supporting families in need each month. It really gives me a sense of connection to the world we live in and leaves me feeling fulfilled beyond the workplace.
The virtue... I am a mentor and currently work with several men in learning about their life and supporting them with various life challenges.
The color... I love red as it represents brightness and passion to me. As someone who is colorblind and has challenges with seeing colors as they are, red really stands out for me.
The friend... Definitely my best buddy Domenic from college who was also my roommate. He was my best man at my wedding and continues to be my closest friend after 40 years.
The smell... The salt air scent of the ocean. We are located just two blocks from the ocean so you can smell it when you step outside our office building, bliss.
The book... Generally I read books that are self -help to support my work as a business owner. I’m currently reading Modern Civility / Etiquette for Dealing with Annoying, Angry, and Difficult People. This was actually written by a consultant I hired years ago when starting my business.
The piece of advice... One of Richard Branson’s quotes: ‘’Business opportunities are like buses, there’s always another one coming.’’
The exercise... I’m blessed with good health, but I do recognize that the ageing process happens fast. I work hard to keep healthy by biking, kayaking and hiking.
The alternative job... Being a Life Coach. I honestly feel such a sense of joy when I help others.
The song... The Prayer by Josh Groban & Celine Dion.
The taste... Any type of dessert. My biggest weakness is sweets. (Also, any type of Seafood…very different from sweets, I know!).
